Small GPS receiver, designed as personal training assistant and bike computer with high-sensitive antenna, large, easy to read color display, integrated base map, barometrical altimeter plus USB interface. Package with speed/cadence sensor and heart rate monitor. The Edge 800 has approx. 75 MB of built-in memory to store optional maps with even more detailed information, such as local roads, restaurants and points of interest. In addition, it has a slot for a standard µSD memory card.

As a personal training assistant, the GARMIN Edge 800 records the travelled path (track), the elevation profile, your heart rate, distance, time, computes the calories burned and helps to achieve your personal workout goals. The device is very easy to use, supports multiple languages and has an extremely sensitive antenna. It is the perfect partner for any biking activities. Beside the GPS receiver, the Edge 800 has a barometrical altimeter. The built-in USB interface supports data exchange with a PC.

GARMIN Edge 800

Features:

  • Best suited to be fixed on a bike, robust, very handy
  • Easy to read color display with background illumination (160x240 pixels)
  • Very easy to use thanks to its touchscreen
  • Multilingual, graphical user interface in Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish
  • Integrated 12 channel GPS receiver with very sensitive built-in antenna
  • Integrated base map
  • Approx. 75 MB of built-in memory to store even more detailed maps with local roads, points of interest etc. You may transfer these maps from a PC to the GPS
  • Slot for standard micro SD memory card ("TransFlash"). Memory cards are available as an option.
  • Premium chest belt with heart rate monitor. The chest belt uses a digitally coded signal, which means, once a heart beat sensor and the GPS have been paired, the GPS will never receive a conflicting signal from another sensor. So you can exercise in close proximity to other sensors without fear of interference. Heart rate monitor either included in the package or available as an option.
  • Speed and cadence sensor: Measures the number of revolutions of the back wheel and the crank arm with magnets and a wireless sensor. Like the heart rate monitor, this sensor uses a digitally coded signal. Once paired with the Edge 800, the GPS will never receive a conflicting signal from another sensor. So you can exercise in close proximity to other sensors without fear of interference. Speed/cadence sensor either included in the package or available as an option.
  • Barometrical altimeter for precise elevation recording¹, accuracy ±3 m (10 feet), resolution ±30 cm (1 foot)
  • Short time to first fix (TTFF²: approx. 15 seconds after a warm start, meaning there are valid coordinates of the satellites available, or approx. 45 seconds after a cold start, meaning there are no valid coordinates of the satellites available)
  • Powered by built-in, rechargeable battery (lasts about 15 h), battery charger included
  • Firmware stored in Flash-Memory, can be updated by the user
  • Operating temperatures -20 .. 60°C (-4° .. 140°F)
  • USB interface (connection cable included)
  • Dimensions: 54x93x25 mm (2x3.7x1 inches)
  • Weight: 100 g (3.5 ounces)
  • Water resistant up to approx. 3 feet (1 meter) for about 30 minutes (IPX7)
  • ¹) Even though a GPS provides accurate elevation information, the value slightly varies continuously. A barometrical altimeter is therefore more accurate, especially when summarizing elevation changes.
  • ²) TTFF: Time To First Fix, time until the first information about the current position is acquired.

Information about your training:

  • Personal profile: Stores personal information such as gender, weight and date of birth (in order to calculate the calories burned)
  • Bike profile: Stores the weight of three different bikes.
  • Stop watch with split times (laps). Records split times either manually by pressing the "lap" key or automatically based on a user defined distance or position.
  • Auto pause: Stops the watch automatically if the current speed drops below a user defined value, e.g. when waiting at a red light or during a short break.
  • Virtual Partner: This unique feature helps you to achieve certain goals for your workout. Choose one of the following combinations:
    1. Distance & Time: Set the distance for your workout and the time you intend to achieve. Forerunner computes the speed required.
    2. Time & Speed: Set the time and the speed for your workout.
    3. Distance & Speed: Set the distance and the speed for your workout.
The virtual partner will keep exactly the speed required to achieve the goal you have set. The Edge 800 will constantly measure your current speed and compares it to the virtual partner's speed. It will ask you to speed up or slow down as needed and it shows on the display whether you are ahead or behind your virtual partner.
  • History: The Edge 800 keeps track of your workouts. It stores the date, time, number of laps, duration, distance, average speed, calories burned, average and maximum heart rate on a daily basis. It also provides weekly overviews and running totals for the duration, distance and calories burned.
  • Navigation: Indicates your current location on the map and in relation to user defined waypoints or routes. You can create routes with these waypoints. The GPS will guide you from one waypoint to the next indicating current direction and distance. Number of routes only limited by memory space available.
  • Back to start: This feature helps you to travel all the way back to the starting point of your trip.
  • Stores up to 200 waypoints with name (up to 8 characters) and icon (choice of more than 30 symbols).
  • Stores up to 1'000 laps.
  • Supports metric and U.S. units.
