The Edge 1000 supports the Russian GLONASS satellites

Small, classy GPS device, designed as personal training assistant and bike computer with high-sensitive antenna, large, easy to read color display with touchscreen, barometrical altimeter plus USB interface. Package with speed/cadence sensor and heart rate monitor. The Edge 1000 has 7.2 GB of built-in memory to store optional maps with even more detailed information, such as local roads, restaurants and points of interest, 5.2 GB of which are occupied by the pre-installed bike map of Europe supporting auto-routing. In addition, it has a slot for a standard µSD memory card and supports the US GPS as well as the Russian GLONASS satellites.

As a personal training assistant, the GARMIN Edge 1000 records the travelled path (track), the elevation profile, your heart rate, distance, time, computes the calories burned and helps to achieve your personal workout goals. The device has a shapely design, is very easy to use, supports multiple languages and has an extremely sensitive antenna. It is the perfect partner for any biking and other outdoor activities. The display supports portrait and landscape mode. The pre-installed bike map of Europe supports auto-routing based on the current activity, and searching for cities, addresses and points of interest (POIs). As an unique feature, the Edge 1000 finds round-trips of any distance starting at the current or any other location. The built-in USB interface supports data exchange with a computer, the Edge 1000 can also communicate with compatible smartphones via Bluetooth and supports live tracking. For better comfort during the ride, there is an optional remote control.

Garmin Connect Mobile If you have an iPhone or an Android smartphone, you may connect it with your Edge 1000 using Bluetooth. Use this feature to download up-to-date weather forecasts and to share your position and workout data with your friends in real-time (live tracking). The free App Garmin Connect Mobile must be installed on your smartphone in order to use this functionality.

Testimonial TRAMsoft: We were excited about the GARMIN Edge 1000 from the very first touch. Finally, GARMIN unveiled another first class device again ! After the Oregon 600 series, the Edge 1000 is another reason for GARMIN's leadership in the outdoor market. The Edge 1000 has a very shapely design and a lot of exciting features such as a brilliant display and a comprehensive pre-installed map of Europe which supports activity-based routing. The map is very detailed - at least in Switzerland, we do not have any experiences in other countries yet. We especially like the unique feature, which allows to find round-trips of any distance starting at the current or any other location.

  • Easy to read color display with background illumination (240x400 pixels), supports portrait and landscape mode
  • Very easy to use thanks to its touchscreen
  • Remote control with three buttons, one user programmable, available as an option. Control your Edge without taking your hands off the handle bar.
  • Multilingual, graphical user interface in Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish
  • Built-in GPS antenna, supports the signals of the US GPS and the Russian GLONASS satellites
  • Pre-installed bike map of Europe, supports various search functions plus activity-based auto-routing
  • 7.2 GB of built-in memory to store even more detailed maps with local roads, points of interest etc., 5.2 GB occupied by the pre-installed map. You may transfer optional maps from a computer to the GPS.
  • Slot for standard micro SD memory card ("TransFlash"). Memory cards are available as an option.
  • Comfortable premium chest belt with heart rate monitor. The chest belt uses a digitally coded signal, which means, once a heart beat sensor and the GPS have been paired, the GPS will never receive a conflicting signal from another sensor. So you can exercise in close proximity to other sensors without fear of interference. Heart rate monitor either included in the package or available as an option.
  • Speed and cadence sensor: Measures the number of revolutions of the wheel and the crank arm with wireless sensors. Like the heart rate monitor, these sensors use digitally coded signals. Once paired with the Edge 1000, the GPS will never receive a conflicting signal from other sensors. So you can exercise in close proximity to other sensors without fear of interference. Speed/cadence sensor either included in the package or available as an option.
  • Barometrical altimeter for precise elevation recording¹, accuracy ±3 m (10 feet), resolution ±30 cm (1 foot)
  • Short time to first fix (TTFF²: approx. 15 seconds after a warm start, meaning there are valid coordinates of the satellites available, or approx. 45 seconds after a cold start, meaning there are no valid coordinates of the satellites available)
  • Powered by built-in, rechargeable battery (lasts about 15 h), battery charger included
  • Firmware stored in Flash-Memory, can be updated by the user
  • Operating temperatures -20 .. 60°C (-4° .. 140°F)
  • USB interface (connection cable included)
  • Dimensions: 58x112x20 mm (2.3x4.4x0.8 inches)
  • Weight: 115 g (4 ounces)
  • Water resistant up to approx. 3 feet (1 meter) for about 30 minutes (IPX7)
  • ¹) Even though a GPS provides accurate elevation information, the value slightly varies continuously. A barometrical altimeter is therefore more accurate, especially when summarizing elevation changes.
  • ²) TTFF: Time To First Fix, time until the first information about the current position is acquired.

Information about your activities:

  • Activity-based routing, the following activities are supported: Road Cycling, Tour Cycling, Mountain Biking, Automobile Driving , Motorcycle Driving, Pedestrian and Direct Routing.
  • Personal profile: Stores personal information such as gender, weight and date of birth (in order to calculate the calories burned)
  • Stop watch with split times (laps). Records split times either manually by pressing the "lap" key or automatically based on a user defined distance or position.
  • Auto pause: Stops the watch automatically if the current speed drops below a user defined value, e.g. when waiting at a red light or during a short break.
  • Virtual Partner: This unique feature helps you to achieve certain goals for your workout. The virtual partner will keep exactly the speed required to achieve the goal you have set. The Edge 1000 will constantly measure your current speed and compares it to the virtual partner's speed. It will ask you to speed up or slow down as needed and it shows on the display whether you are ahead or behind your virtual partner. The following options are available:
    1. Speed: Set a speed target. You may change the speed target during the activity.
    2. Previous activity: You may use a previous activity as a target for your current activity. If you stored a track of a previous ride, your virtual partner will follow it exactly, but you may change the speed as needed.
    3. Activity from the Internet: You may download one of your own or someone else's ride from GARMIN Connect to use as a target for your current activity. Your virtual partner will follow the ride exactly, but you may change the speed as needed.
  • History: The Edge 1000 keeps track of your workouts. It stores the date, time, number of laps, duration, distance, average speed, calories burned, average and maximum heart rate on a daily basis. It also provides weekly overviews and running totals for the duration, distance and calories burned.
  • Navigation: Indicates your current location on the map and in relation to user defined waypoints or routes. You can create routes with these waypoints. The GPS will guide you from one waypoint to the next indicating current direction and distance. Number of routes only limited by memory space available.
  • Back to start: This feature helps you to travel either the same way back or the shortest path to the starting point of your trip.
  • Stores up to 200 waypoints with name (up to 8 characters) and icon (choice of more than 30 symbols).
  • Stores up to 180 hours of training data.
  • Supports metric and U.S. units.
